IMPORTANT:
Before you leave home for any National Regiment field event,
be sure, especially if the weather might be an issue, to check
the National Regiment's toll-free number, 800-777-1861 for any
last-minute information. Any event listed below is one that
is on the National Regiment's official schedule. Other events
are still events Company K hopes to attend, or recommends you
attend as an individual. If there is any event not on this schedule
and you wish to find a unit with which to fall in, email us
at info@K1stPaRes.com.
August 23-24: Living History Encampment at Gettysburg National Military Park
Company-size living history event sponsored by one of our brother units, Company C, 53rd Pennsylvania. Camp at the Pennsylvania Monument with shelter tents. Bring your personal living history items for ration issue, knapsack inspection, and show and tell to the site visitors. Demonstrations for the public as well, so bring the usual compliment of cartridges. Additional information forthcoming.
September, Fisher's Hill: We don't have a specific date
for this event, to be held in the Shenandoah Valley, as yet.
But we do know it will be staged by Rob Hodge, an icon of
the hobby, whose Spotsylvania reenactment several years ago
was marked by its 300 yards of very impressive trenches, its
authenticity, and a tornado the Friday night of the event,
none of which those of us who were present will soon forget!
October 18-19, Battles of Cedar Creek (National Regiment):
Held in scenic Middletown, Virginia, on the site of the original
battle, Cedar Creek is an annual reenactment that is marked
by its large numbers of reenactors, the huge size of the battle
area, and the stunning beauty of the Valley. Oh, and the bone-chilling
cold that is often encountered, too. Here's the Website: http://www.cedarcreekbattlefield.org/
November 22, 2008 (National Regiment), Remembrance Day Parade:
This parade is always the final event of the season for Company
K, and of course the parade is its centerpiece, following
which we visit several monuments to lay wreaths. After that,
it's party weekend for the Civil War! This year, we hope to
return to our former annual tradition of a dinner for the
entire unit.
